Neutering

When can I get my dog neutered?

Bitches can be neutered from 6 months of age.  This can be done before they have a season as long as there is no history of urinary incontinence or cystitis.  If this has been a problem then we would advise letting them have one season.

The ideal time to neuter a bitch is either 3-4 weeks after the last season has finished or 16 weeks after the last season.  This timing in the cycle will reduce complications.

Males can also be neutered from 6 months of age.

What is the recovery time after neutering?

Your dog will receive a post-operative check 2 days after the surgery.

We recommend that your dog is kept on the lead for at least one week after being neutered.
